Japanese Omamori-Inspired Acrylic Charm, featuring the Rainbow Tiger!
What are Omamori?
Omamori are Japanese amulets commonly sold at Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples. These amulets are said to provide various forms of luck and protection. Typically, one acquires an omamori, and they are replaced once a year by returning them to the same shrine and/or temple they were acquired from so they can be disposed of properly.
A percentage of profits from the sales of these omamori will be donated to the Shinto Shrine of Shuuse Inari in America.
The kanji on the back (自由 御守) reads "Freedom Amulet", referring to the freedom to be your true self and the freedom to love who you want. In Japan, the tiger has recently been used as a symbol for the trans community. The Japanese word for tiger is "Tora", and when "trans" is sounded out in katakana, it sounds like it starts with "tora" (To-ra-n-su).
